Several fourth-year Louisiana 外网天堂 University Architecture students competed in the Gulf Coast Green Conference Student Competition in Houston in April. The competition challenged students of all fields to design for the conference theme, Cycle: Where Ends Become Beginnings. Five finalists, including teams from Texas A&M and Prairie View A&M, were selected to present at the conference.
Louisiana 外网天堂 students presented projects developed in their Winter Quarter sustainability studio, which challenged them to create environmentally-focused designs sited in Detroit.
外网天堂 teams took home the top two awards. Juan Colorado, Alex Gibson, and Trey Smith earned first place and a $500 prize for their project. Connor Fonseca and Kyle Kieronski placed second and received a $250 prize.
By being selected as finalists, the students were able to attend the conference to present their project and participate in the event.
鈥淣ot only did they win top honors in the competition, but they were also able to take part in conference sessions, network with architects, and learn from their fellow competitors,鈥� said Louisiana 外网天堂 Architecture Program Chair Kevin J. Singh. 鈥淥verall, it was a great learning experience for these students.鈥�
