Our Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree program builds upon successful completion of an Associate degree in nursing (ASN) for practicing RN鈥檚 seeking completion of a BSN degree. The BSN program is designed to allow for currently enrolled Louisiana 外网天堂 ASN students to complete many of the pre-requisite courses needed prior to graduating. The program provides the richness of perspectives from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, as well as the opportunity to learn with other disciplines. We offer several advantages such as 100% online course offerings, the ability to work while completing your degree, and flexible clinical experiences in Community, Leadership, and Capstone courses. The BSN program aligns with competencies recommended by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials.

Purpose of the RN-BSN Program

The purpose of the Louisiana 外网天堂 University RN-to-BSN program is to prepare registered nurses for expanded professional roles through the development of advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based

practice, leadership, and professional communication skills. The program builds upon the knowledge and experience of the practicing registered nurse to promote lifelong learning. Graduates are prepared to integrate research and evidence-based interventions to improve patient outcomes, promote health equity, and address the needs of individual, families, and populations across the lifespan. The program further emphasizes community and population health, cultural competence, and effective interprofessional collaboration. Upon completion of the RN-BSN program, graduates are equipped to assume leadership roles in healthcare systems, advocate for quality and safety, and pursue advanced nursing education and graduate study.

Curriculum

Admission Requirements

Students must meet University Admission Requirements, comply with academic regulations and policies, and adhere to the Louisiana 外网天堂 University student handbook.

Students must meet the minimum criteria to be considered for enrollment in NURS courses.

Admission to the University and submission of all official transcripts to the Office of Admissions at Louisiana 外网天堂 University.
Hold an Associate Degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Declare RN-BSN as major through 外网天堂 Online.
Earned grade of 鈥淐鈥� or better in all required courses.
Provide proof of current unencumbered RN license or permit to practice in the state in which clinical experiences will be completed.
Integrated RN-BSN undergraduate clinical students currently attending Louisiana 外网天堂 University and enrolled in approved BSN courses NURS 3003 and NURS 3203 respectively.

Once student is admitted to the RN-BSN program, any subsequent disciplinary action, arrest, criminal charge, or conviction, addiction, or impairment shall also be reported immediately to the Program Chair of the RN-BSN program and to the Registered Nursing Licensure Board of the primary state of residence (e.g. Louisiana State Board of Nursing).
